University of Sussex位於英國南部的沿海城市Brighton，全英排名18 (The Complete University Guide 2017)，還曾被英國衛報(The Guardian) 譽為擁有最好的化學系的大學。除了化學，大學內其他優秀的學科還包括美國研究、解剖學與生理學、生物科學、市場學、法律、英文與創意寫作、心理學、物理及社會學等等。大學的研究實力雄厚，在2016的Research Excellence Framework (REF) 中有75%的研究被評為「世界領先」或「國際優秀」的水平，曾在大學內任教的Harry Kroto教授更是第一位獲得諾貝爾化學獎的英國人。
